Jaipur Walla

I've being going to Jaipur Walla for years - and I keep going back because they have the best Indian food I've ever eaten! I've tried many other Indian restaurants and quite frankly, nothing compares. The butter chicken is to die for! Malai kofta is an excellent vegetarian option and they make the best garlic naan ever.

The waiters are very professional and efficient (and they remember their regulars!), the service is usually pretty fast and I don't think I've ever been charged a corkage fee for BYO wine. The food is really reasonably priced ($17.50 for a main), they have a modest wine list but there are some decent options and they don't charge outrageous mark ups either. The menu is very extensive, with a number of chicken, beef and lamb dishes, such as madras, korma and vindaloo, plus seafood and vegetarian options and they can spice them mild, medium or hot according to your preferences.

They do get busy, so if you want to go on Friday or Saturday night, it's a good idea to book. I booked for 8 people at very short notice (like about 2 hours!) and they were very accommodating and had it all set up when we arrived. They were very prompt replacing the chilled water carafes and bringing extra rice.

Overall, this is an excellent restaurant with superb food and good service - it has a very relaxed and friendly atmosphere and while it is not fancy, it is great place to dine casually with friends and family or an intimate dinner for two. Not only do I regard Jaipur Walla as the best Indian restaurant in Hamilton, as far as I am concerned, it is the best Indian restaurant anywhere!

Alex, 3 August 2008 (5 stars). This restaurant has the best food I have ever tasted. I would recommend it to everyone of all ages. Their service was great and we had a wonderful time. The atmosphere was great and the dinner; only one word for it "perfect". If you are looking for an Indian restaurant and don't know where to go Jaipur Walla should surely have to be your first stop and did I mention it was PERFECT!!!
Jason, 11 March 2008 (5 stars). I have had dinner at many Indian restaurants around Hamilton and have found Jaipur Walla to be consistently the best food and value with a great range of dishes to cater for everyone. Keep up the great work.
Mermaid, 6 June 2007 (3.5 stars). Went there last weekend with a group of 8. We have booked a table and the place was packed. We were given the table at the far back corner. There were little space and we had to reorganise the table and chairs ourselves in order to fit all of us round the table. Not very good service there.
Curry was ok, and it's a bit cheaper than other Indian restaurants. Their naan was good. Nice place for a quick and casual meal.
Anonymous, 22 May 2006 (5 stars). I really enjoy the food and atmosphere at Jaipur Walla. I have since moved from Hamilton and also travel around NZ quite a bit, and honestly I haven't found an Indian restaurant that compares! I particularly love the kashmari naan and mango chicken.
