Nando's Hey! I'm the owner of Nando's Victoria street and Te Rapa. We took over management in mid 2006 and can say that service was quite poor then. But on the contrary if you do come in today, I can guarantee you an experience worth remembering. Food, service and atmosphere are all at its best and if you do not like something or you do not feel satisfied by your experience, please do get my contact details from the staff and let me know. We are customer oriented, as we believe that you are our key to success. SO COME IN AND exPERIence THE PERI-PERI WAY OF LIFE!!!

| Fatma R, 12 January 2007 ( stars). I think Nandos is a great place to take your children and family and have a night out, I think they have good customer service and extremely great food. | | Anonymous, 26 December 2006 (1 stars). The food is excellent but the service is extremely poor. I have requested chicken legs for the chicken pieces that I have ordered. The request was declined by the staff member who spoke to me in a very rude manner. She basically said I get whatever they give me. It's a pity as the food is of a good quality but I will never go back there again. It is incredible that the service can be such a turn off for such good food. If you want to enjoy the experience of dining out in Nandos, I recommend you to just order your meal and don't have any requests. | kasey wayne, 14 October 2006 (3.5 stars). My family and I don't eat much spicy food, however we find Nando's Chicken delicious especially the aroma of the herb/herbs used on the chicken. That had attracted us and we became regulars.
Tastewise I have no complaint, meaning to say when it comes to the food I would unreservedly give 4.5/5. When it comes to the service, I do think there is much room for improvement (or staff training to be provided) in the area of handling customers and keeping them pleased. I often do "take out" meals from the service outlets and the taste from eating in and having them take home and served can vary. Usually it tends to turn a bit dry and loses its moistness and is not as juicy.
I wasn't very impressed this afternoon when I dropped in to Nando's New Lynn outlet to order 2 lemon & Herb Chicken for takeaway. Very friendly and politely I requested the cashier/receptionist to ask whoever was preparing my order to kindly sprinkle more of the liquid ingredient to keep them moist and juicy, but I was shocked with the response I received from the girl who in my opinion was not very service oriented and to some extent quite rude. Very bluntly I was told that the staff who prepared the chicken would follow exactly the company's instruction to use the amount of ingredient as told. She said she would drop in some chilli packets for me to take home. I asked if they were chilli and she said yes. I then explained to her that my children don't like chilli and it would be good if they could sprinkle more of whatever they were using to keep the chicken moist and juicy. The answer was a straight no.
As I was driving home I thought to myself, "Hey look. You are there to buy something to be enjoyed at home but you were kind of being told that what I give you take!" Isn't Nando's a restaurant to provide food, put services aside for now to keep its customers happy and in return being rewarded in monetary profits?
-Was it very unjustified of me making the kind of trouble free request to Nando's to keep my chicken nice and juicy?
-Now come to service wise, was that what I should and would in future receive from Nando's a straight no and being told that what we give you take? If the extra amount of whatever liquid does impose extra cost to the restaurant, pass the bill to the customers then. Since I am willing to spend $37 for 2 chickens which in my opinion is just about average in value, do you think I would mind spending an extra 1 to 2 dollars for the extras? If I don't get the satisfaction out of eating Nando's chicken what's the use of eating them? I don't eat Nandos chicken just to get my stomach full but to get the satisfaction out of eating them as well.
-What's the use of giving me some chilli packets that I don't even use on my chicken? All I would do is keep them aside until spring cleaning, and have them sent to the bin. Say just a suggestion, why can I not trade the chilli packets for the extra liquid to be used on the chicken in the process of preparing them?
The above comments and review of my experience at Nando's is not for the purpose of weighing out who's right or wrong, but just some points to ponder. However, a satisfied customer is a regular customer and is your asset! We are all living in New Zealand a free world having the freedom of choice. Nando's can choose not to serve and I can choose to dine elsewhere.
Thank you for taking the time to read this. | | Bubwrap, 30 January 2002 (4.5 stars). Nandos is great and worth going too | | Ang, 22 January 2002 (4.5 stars). Highly addictive flame grilled chicken heaven. |
